Justin Meram and Iraq fell to Iran, 1-0, in their final AFC Asian Cup tune-up on Sunday at WIN Stadium in Wollongong, Australia. Meram came on as a substitute in the 71st minute.
The Lions of Mesopotamia begin their Asian Cup campaign on Monday, January 12 against Jordan. Joining Iraq and Jordan in their group are Japan and Lebanon.
Justin Meram and Iraq drew Uzbekistan, 0-0, in an international friendly on Sunday in Dubai as they prepare for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup next month. The Lions of Mesopotamia will now wrap-up their camp in Dubai before heading to Australia to face Iran on January 4. The Asian Cup kicks-off January 9.
In preparation for the AFC Asian Cup in Australia coming in January, Justin Meram and Iraq drew Kuwait, 1-1, in an international friendly in Dubai on Tuesday. Striker Younis Mahmoud scored the lone goal for the Lions of Mesopotamia.
Iraq continues its Asian Cup preparation on Thursday with the first of two friendlies against Uzbekistan.
Crew SC midfielder and Homegrown product Ben Swanson served as captain and played the full 90 minutes in the United States U-18 Men's National Team's 2-1 win over Germany in Marbella, Spain on Wednesday afternoon. Mauricio Pineda and Brooks Lennon found the net for the Americans before Germany got one back via penalty kick in stoppage time.
The U.S. U-18s face Germany again on Friday in Marbella.

Columbus Crew midfielder/defender Kevan George was in the active roster for Trinidad & Tobago's friendly against Lionel Messi and Argentina on Wednesday night. George, wearing the number five shirt, came on as a second-half substitute in the 71st minute, replacing Andre Boucaud.
Argentina won the match by a 3-0 final in its capital city of Buenos Aires. George, who earned his sixth cap, helped the Soca Warriors keep Argentina scoreless over the match's final 19 minutes of play.
George and Trinidad & Tobago next face Iran on Sunday in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

In its first tune-up for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Costa Rica fell to Japan, 3-1, Monday night in Tampa, Fla. as Manchester United's Shinji Kagawa found the winner for Japan in the 80th minute. The Crew's Giancarlo Gonzalez played all 90 minutes and picked up a yellow card in the defeat, while leftback Waylon Francis did not see action for Costa Rica.

Crew defender Michael Parkhurst earned his 25th cap for the United States on Wednesday in the United States' 2-2 draw with Mexico at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Parkhurst made his second-straight start at leftback, and played the full 90 minutes in the draw.
The Crew Captain is due back in Columbus ahead of the Black & Gold's Trillum Cup clash with Toronto FC, presented by Scotts, on Saturday.
Though the First Team’s season has come to an end, the final Black & Gold match of 2013 is taking place tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. ET at the Crew’s Obetz Training Facility. A side composed of Academy players and guest players will lineup against trialists for newly minted NASL side Indy 11. The game is being opened to the public, so fans interested in attending are welcome to watch the Crew one final time this year. Those making the trip should park in the lot on the training complex’s west side between the two practice fields, accessing the facility through the center gate. Fans are asked to sit on the bleachers on the opposite side of the team benches.
Crew striker Jairo Arrieta went the full 90 minutes for Costa Rica in a 1-1 draw with Bolivia from the Estadio Hernando Stiles in Santa Cruz. Wearing the 21 jersey for Los Ticos, Jairo provided a dangerous option for the Costa Rican side with two shots on goal.
Costa Rica will play Panama on February 6, 2013 in the Hexagonal Round to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
