The Dayton Dutch Lions, aided by four Crew loanees, advanced to the Third Round of the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup yesterday.
Dayton traveled to Buffalo Grove, Illinois and beat FC Schwaben AC by a score of 2-0. Brad Stuver was the starting goalkeeper for Dayton and field players Ross Friedman, Matt Walker and Aaron Schoenfeld all started.
The Dutch Lions will next play NASL side Indy Eleven in the Third Round, which is the round immediately prior to MLS clubs entering the tournament.

In advance of its Military Appreciation Night on May 24, the Crew joined forces with Operation Buckeye to help prepare care packages that will be sent to servicemen and women overseas. Defender Michael Parkhurst, Goalkeeper Brad Stuver and members of the Crew front office spent Monday afternoon filling boxes with food, toiletries and letters of encouragement to help brighten soldiers' spirits while they serve the United States Military in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ashland Medical Affairs, Ashland Women’s International Network and Ashland’s African American Leadership Team invited Jeff Hogan of 10TV and Crew goalkeeper Matt Lampson to kick-off their second annual celebration of National Women’s Health Week.
Hogan spoke about 10TV’s Commit to Be Fit program, while Lampson spoke about being a Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancer survivor, the importance of a healthy lifestyle and making the most of his second chance at life. Lampson discussed his work with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Central Ohio and his own non-profit organization, The LampStrong Foundation, Inc. After speaking to the group, he signed autographs and took photos with the Ashland employees and their family members in attendance.

Aaron Schoenfeld, on-loan from Columbus, notched the Dutch Lions' goal in a 1-1 draw with LA Galaxy II on Saturday, May 10 at DOC Stadium.
Schoenfeld's tally came in the 43rd minute, and served as an equalizer after Chandler Hoffman opened the scoring for the visitors in the 41st.
Matt Walker (pictured below), Ben Sweat and Kevan George also started for the Dutch Lions. Walker recorded one shot in the contest. Brad Stuver served as the back-up goalkeeper for the match.
