Crew legends Brad Friedel and Brian McBride were named to U.S. Soccer's All-Time Men's Best XI. Friedel, who played in net for the Black & Gold in the 1996 and 1997 seasons, earned 82 caps for the U.S. between 1992 and 2004 and represented his country in three FIFA World Cups.The first player to be drafted by the Crew, McBride made 95 caps for the United States and scored 30 goals in international play. McBride played in the 1998, 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups.

The U.S. Men's National Team's fourth-straight 2-0 victory over Mexico in World Cup Qualifying at Crew Stadium on September 10 made Sports Illustrated's top 113 sports moments of 2013, coming in at number 65 on the list. Crew players Ethan Finlay and Josh Williams joined club President Mark McCullers, Brand Ambassador Frankie Hejduk and 30-plus members of the organization's front office to assist in this year’s Salvation Army Christmas Cheer event at the DiSalle Center. Christmas Cheer is Central Ohio's largest holiday toy and food distribution program and the annual event is set to distribute food and toys to nearly 8,000 families in need.
Christmas Cheer is the second event this holiday season that the Salvation Army and Columbus Crew have partnered together. Earlier this month, Crew employees volunteered for 18 hours in support of the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.

Crew Soccer Academy products Alex Crognale (Maryland) and Connor Klekota (Notre Dame) will play for an NCAA Championship this weekend at the 2013 College Cup at PPL Park in Chester, Penn. Klekota and the Fighting Irish face the New Mexico Lobos in the first Semifinal match, while Crognale and the Terrapins square-off against ACC rival Virginia afterward. The two Academy products could meet in the Final on Sunday.
