Columbus Crew SC (Soccer Club) is the first club in Major League Soccer and in 2015, Crew SC was crowned MLS Eastern Conference Champions in the organization’s 20th season. Owned and operated by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), it won its first MLS Cup championship in 2008 and also won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as MLS Supporters’ Shield titles in 2004, 2008 and 2009. The 2016 campaign is the Black & Gold’s 18th season at historic MAPFRE Stadium -- the first soccer-specific stadium in the United States – where the club set single-season sellout records and hosted the 2015 MLS Cup. The club was purchased by PSV on July 29, 2013 as part of the privately held investment and management firm’s sports and entertainment business enterprise.

Accounting Internship

Description

Columbus Crew SC is seeking an Accounting Intern to support Crew SC’s Finance Department. The internship offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills in accounting as well as experience in a professional sports environment.

The Accounting Internship requires 15-20 hours per week and offers a balance between hours in the office and Matchday participation.  This internship has flexible hours to allow the opportunity to learn from experienced accounting professionals while balancing a course schedule simultaneously. The internship reports directly to the Accounting Manager and is based at MAPFRE Stadium.

Opportunities & Responsibilities

  • Receive, process and verify invoices for the three operating companies
  • Collect W-9’s for appropriate vendors and ensure 1099 amounts are recorded for payables
  • Maintain the payable files
  • Research and review payment inquiries
  • Assist Accounting Department with Matchday responsibilities
  • Special requests & reporting as needed

Communications Internship

Description

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a Communications Intern to support the Communications Department with daily media relations and digital content duties. The Communications Intern plays a role in all departmental activities, including: day-to-day media relations, player communications, match day press functions and content development for all digital platforms. This position has frequent interaction with Crew SC’s management and players, along with team staff from other MLS clubs, and as a result professionalism and attention to detail are critical attributes for this role.

The Communications Internship requires 20-25 hours per week and is primarily based at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. This internship begins in early 2017 and has flexible hours to allow the opportunity to learn from experienced communications professionals while balancing a course schedule simultaneously. The position reports directly to the Communications Manager. Academic credit may be available.

Opportunities & Responsibilities

  • Assist Communications Department with match day media relations responsibilities, including press box management, media credentialing, digital content and post-game quotes
  • Create multiple pieces of written content, such as press releases, media advisories, game notes and articles for columbuscrewsc.com with the opportunity for published byline
  • Assist with media and internal content needs at team training sessions
  • Aggregate and assist with layout of club’s annual media guide

Community Relations & Foundation Internship

Description

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a Community Relations & Foundation Intern to support Crew SC’s Community Relations & Foundation Department. The internship offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills in donation requests, organization wide volunteer programs, player appearances and Columbus Crew SC Foundation events.

The 2017 Community Relations Internship requires 25-30 hours per week and has flexible hours to accommodate an academic schedule. Candidates must be a recent graduate or actively pursuing education in Communications, Marketing or related field of study. The internship offers a stipend and can also be for academic credit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordination of  Matchday 50/50 raffle program
  • Coordinate various  Matchday elements including Hometown Hero, American Flag Groups and Honor Guard among others

Facility Management Internship

Columbus Crew SC is offering an internship in Facility Management. This internship offers practical experience in the processes and procedures required run a Stadium including preparing and executing Crew SC Matches and other major events.

The 2017 Facility Management Internship requires 15-20 hours per week and offers a balance between hours in the office and Matchday participation. The Facility Management Intern reports to the Facility Manager and collaborates closely with the full Stadium Operations Department.

Grassroots Marketing

Description

Columbus Crew SC is seeking a Grassroots Marketing Intern in our Marketing Department. This internship will primarily focus on Crew SC grassroots initiatives and will be responsible for extending the Columbus Crew SC brand within the state of Ohio by assisting with key events, building relationships with event stakeholders and researching new techniques, approaches and set-ups.

The 2017 Grassroots Marketing Internship requires approximately 20 hours per week in the office in addition to on-site grassroots marketing events in the evenings and on weekends and has flexible hours to accommodate an academic schedule.
