610 WTVN remains Crew English Radio Home
The Columbus Crew, in conjunction with Clear Channel Columbus Radio, announced today that News Talk 610 WTVN will remain the club’s English-language radio home under the terms of a new three-year agreement.
All 34 regular-season Crew games and every Crew playoff match will be broadcast live on News Talk 610 WTVN beginning on Saturday, March 19, with FirstKick 2011 at D.C. United. The new agreement provides for vastly expanded 30-minute pregame and postgame shows bookending each game broadcast.
“We are thrilled to continue our association with Clear Channel Columbus,” said Crew President & General Manager Mark McCullers. “They are an industry leader and a valued partner, and the expanded broadcast window and additional promotional support are exciting elements of the new agreement.”
Neil Sika enters his fifth season as the Crew’s radio play-by-play announcer, and he will be joined again for most home games by color analyst John Bluem, the Ohio State University men’s soccer coach. Sika is a veteran of Ohio State hockey, Miami University hockey and Ohio State baseball broadcasts, as well as numerous assignments for the Big Ten Network and SportsTime Ohio, among others.
As in the first three years of the partnership, occasional conflicts on WTVN will result in games moving to Clear Channel Columbus sister stations The Brew 105.7 and GenX Radio 106.7.
“We are very pleased to be able to extend our partnership with the Columbus Crew,” said Clear Channel Columbus Radio President & Market Manager Brian Dytko. “The Crew is a great organization with a loyal audience and tremendous following. We are excited that 610 WTVN will continue to be the Home of the Crew!”
