Black & Gold By The Numbers
The Crew is currently tied for third place in the Eastern Conference with six points (2-2-0). The other teams who have six points so far this season are Houston and New England. Sporting KC continues its march towards a perfect season with 15 pts. and a 5-0-0 record.
This is the fifth meeting in club history between the Crew and the Union. The Black & Gold is ahead with a 3-1-0 all-time record against Philadelphia.
4 v 2
The Crew has scored two more goals than Philadelphia through four matches this season. Both teams are even on goals against with six.
65 v 47
Philadelphia is quite the physical team this season committing 65 fouls against the 47 committed by the Crew through four matches. Midfielder Michael Farfan leads the Union in fouls committed with 13.
Crew captain Chad Marshall’s goal last Saturday against New York was his first of the season and 14th of his career, matching the number he wears on his jersey. It is unclear whether he will approach Kirk Urso to swap jersey numbers once he scores his 15th.
Urso’s assist on Saturday was the first of his professional career. It is safe to assume that Urso should be able to keep his jersey number if he continues to serve perfect corner kicks to Marshall.
24 v 11
The Black & Gold has recorded more than twice the amount of shots on goal than the Union with 24 against 11.
Philadelphia and the Crew are even on corner kicks awarded with 15. While Urso took every corner for the Crew, the Union has spread the corners across four players: Keon Daniel (9), Roger Torres (4), Freddy Adu (1) and Jack McInerney (1)
