Black & Gold Bullets: October 10, 2013
Since the start of October, Major League Soccer and MLS WORKS has joined the initiative to support breast cancer awareness, most visibly with the pink nets that have been collecting goals league-wide. Crew forward Dominic Oduro also jumped into the fray, styling his signature mohawk in hot pink along with adding awareness ribbons to the sides of his head. Steve Davis from Pro Soccer Talk saluted Oduro's gesture in this piece about the league's creativity in supporting the worthy cause
One of the matches that was of interest to the Crew took place last night in Houston, where the Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City played to a scoreless draw. The result did not do the Black & Gold any favors, as both teams are now out of reach with just two games remaining of the Crew's schedule. Richard Farley from Pro Soccer Talk broke down the match and what it means for the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
The U.S. Men's National Team is preparing for its first match since the thrilling "Dos A Cero" victory over Mexico in 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying at Crew Stadium. The lineup in Friday's match against Jamaica at Sporting Park in Kansas City will be altered from the one that featured in Columbus, a matter which Ives Galarcep discussed in his piece on Soccer By Ives.
