PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2015 (Columbus): Schoenfeld made 17 appearances (one start) in 2015, scoring one goal. He made his season debut with a substitute appearance at forward against Houston (March 7). He came on at halftime in the club’s international friendly vs. Valencia CF (May 27) and made his first start of the season at Philadelphia (June 3), playing all 90 minutes. He came on as a substitute in Crew SC’s final regular-season match, against D.C. United (October 25), scoring his first goal of the campaign. Schoenfeld did not make an appearance in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs. He made a substitute appearance in Crew SC’s 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round contest at Richmond (June 17). He started in the Round of 16 at Orlando (June 30).

2014 (Columbus/Dayton): Schoenfeld made 15 MLS appearances -- including seven starts -- on the season, recording three goals and one assist. He made 18 appearances -- including 15 starts -- and scored 12 goals for the Dayton Dutch Lions. While with Dayton, he scored the game-winning goal against Harrisburg (April 19). He scored two goals in a 4-3 loss against Harrisburg (May 17). Schoenfeld scored two goals in the match at Arizona (June 11) and tallied a hat trick at Charlotte (July 5). He made his MLS season debut in a substitute appearance at New York (July 12). He came on in the second half versus Montreal (July 19) and notched an assist on Bernardo Anor’s game-winning goal. Schoenfeld scored his first MLS goal of the season versus Houston (August 23). He made his first MLS start of 2014 versus Chivas USA (September 7) and continued in the starting lineup for the club’s next six matches, notching two goals at New York (October 19) for his first career MLS brace. He made his postseason debut by starting at forward in the Black & Gold’s opener versus New England (November 1). He did not dress for the second leg at the Revolution (November 9). Schoenfeld started in two Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches for Dayton: against Schwaben AC (May 15) and recorded a goal in the 5-2 loss to Indy Eleven (May 28). 

2013 (Columbus): Schoenfeld made nine appearances – including two starts - at forward in 2013 where he recorded one goal and one assist. He made his season debut in an appearance at forward at Toronto (May 18) and started his first match of the season at forward – his fourth career MLS start overall – against Portland (July 7) where he suffered a foul in the box that led to an opponent’s 11th minute red card and a Black & Gold penalty kick. Schoenfeld started at forward in the international friendly against Wigan Athletic (July 13) and again the following week against New England (July 20) at home before leaving in the 36th minute with a right shoulder sprain that would sideline him for five matches from July 27-August 24. He was upgraded to questionable for the match against Seattle (August 31), but did not dress. Later, he pushed across his first career MLS goal – which was nominated for MLS ‘Goal of the Week’ honors – and also added an assist as a second-half substitute at forward at New England (October 19). Schoenfeld started the final game of the regular-season at forward (October 27). He made six starts at forward – 10 appearances overall – in MLS Reserve League action and appeared in two matches in 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play: a start against Dayton Dutch Lions (May 29) and a substitute appearance at Chicago (June 13).

2012 (Columbus): As a rookie, Schoenfeld appeared in nine matches with three starts to record one assis for the Black & Gold. The forward's first career assist came on a lay-off to Eddie Gaven on April 21 against the Houston Dynamo. He made his first start in Black & Gold on April 14 at Philadelphia and made his MLS debut on March 24 as a substitute vs. Montreal.

COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

In four years at ETSU, Schoenfeld recorded 20 goals and 10 assists in 72 games. While at ETSU, Schoenfeld received a series of accolades including Atlantic Sun First Team All Conference and Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team honors as a junior and senior, as well as A-Sun All-Academic Honors all four years of his collegiate career. He was also named to the NSCAA First Team All-South Region his senior year and Second Team his junior year.

ACQUIRED

Schoenfeld was signed on March 23, 2012 after Columbus acquired his rights from the Montreal Impact in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft.

PERSONAL

Schoenfeld is the son of Robert and Sherry Schoenfeld. In his free time, he enjoys playing the FIFA video game series and hanging out with his dog. Schoenfeld likes action movies, and his go-to movies are “Rounders” and “Step Brothers.” His favorite foods include pizza and Chipotle, and he enjoys listening to Mumford and Sons. His favorite place he’s traveled to is St. Martin and he’s always wanted to visit Dubai. Schoenfeld’s favorite non-MLS soccer team is Tottenham Hotspur FC of the Barclays Premier League and his favorite soccer player is Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Knoxville, Tenn., native is also a fan of the Tennessee Titans and the University of Tennessee Volunteers. His favorite soccer memory is his first professional goal and his role model is his father.
