PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 

2014 (Crew): Did not make a League appearance for the Crew during the 2014 season ... missed time while recovering from ACL surgery at the beginning of the season ... made 19 appearances on the backline for the Dayton Dutch Lions ... was sent to Dayton for a loan for the match against Rochester (June 1) and started ... started the club’s next 12 matches consecutively ... made his debut in a Crew shirt for the club’s international friendly against Crystal Palace FC (July 23), coming on in the 77th minute at centerback ... made substitute appearances in matches at Charleston (August 8) and at Wilmington (August 9) ... returned to Dayton’s starting lineup for the club’s next four matches ... did not dress for both the club’s postseason opener against New England (November 1) or in the second leg at the Revolution (November 9) ... COLLEGE EXPERIENCE 
 
Played one year collegiately at Indiana University before transferring to UCLA, where he became a standout defender in his final three seasons. While at Indiana, he earned unanimous selection to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team before being voted UCLA’s Defensive MVP in his sophomore season in 2010. He would repeat the same honor as a Bruin in his junior campaign and added Second Team All-Pac-12 status. In his senior season, he earned First-Team NSCAA All-Far West Region honors, becoming the first UCLA player since 1998 to earn that distinction three years in a row.  
 
YOUTH EXPERIENCE 
 
At Worthington Kilbourne High School, Wiet was named a two-time All-Ohio and All-District honoree and OSSCA First Team selection and played for the Crew Soccer Academy, reaching the U.S. Soccer Under-18 Development Academy National Tournament Semifinals, finishing the 2008 campaign ranked third nationally.

PERSONAL 
 
Wiet is the son of Greg and Susie Wiet. A fan of action movies, his go-to-flick is “The Bourne Identity” and he enjoys listening to country music like his favorite artist, Luke Bryan. In his spare time, Wiet particularly enjoys making smoothies and using the blender he got as a gift for college graduation. Outside of MLS, Wiet’s favorite teams include Bayern Munich, Ohio State and UCLA. Wiet’s enjoys traveling and adds Lake Como, Italy to the list of favorite places he has been along with participating in a “sister city” program in Japan. He is fluent in both English and Spanish and enjoys spending down moments with his two labs, Hershey and Oakley.
