Can LA hold on and win the Supporters' Shield, or will another team swoop in?

The regular season is winding down and, suddenly, the race for the Supporters' Shield has become quite a heated one.

Los Angeles (50 points) emerged as the early favorites, winning game after game with an impressive display of both offense and defense. Despite being the first MLS team to reach the 50-point mark, it seems they're running out of steam.

Hot on the Galaxy's heels are Real Salt Lake (48 points). The defending MLS Cup champions are having a great season, as evidenced by their 24-game unbeaten streak at home. RSL are just two points behind the Galaxy and they'll be looking to keep the pressure on.

FC Dallas (46 points) have slowly, but surely, crept up as one of the strongest teams. The Hoops have only lost twice this season -- the last one coming on May 20 -- and have gotten result after result for 17 straight games.

Colombus (45 points) have won the last two Supporters' Shield, but they trail Los Angeles by four points with four games to play. That's plenty of points with plenty of time, but the Crew can't afford to slip up if they want to lift the crown at season's end.

A little further down the Shield ladder, but still in the picture, are New York (44 points). The Red Bulls beat Los Angeles on Friday in a classic six-point swing and, with the confidence gained in the crucial match, are primed for a run to hoist the points trophy.

Can Los Angeles hold on over the final four games to win their first Supporters' Shield since 2002? Or will they fall apart and let one of the four teams waiting to pounce take the trophy home? Vote now and let us know who you think will finish as the league's top team.
