The Columbus Crew will continue to augment its roster at the 2011 MLS SuperDraft this Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Baltimore Convention Center. The proceedings will begin at 12 p.m., with the first round being televised live nationally on ESPN2 and rounds 2 and 3 streaming live on MLSSoccer.com.

The Crew currently owns three selections in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft, including the No. 12 pick overall in the first round. The Black & Gold will then select 10th in the second round (No. 28 overall, acquired from Philadelphia in the Brian Carroll trade) and 12th in the third round (No. 48 overall).

The Crew’s technical staff, led by President & General Manager Mark McCullers, technical director Brian Bliss and head coach Robert Warzycha, will preside over the club’s draft-day table as they continue to shape the roster ahead of the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinals vs. Real Salt Lake on Feb. 22 at Crew Stadium.

The 2011 MLS SuperDraft will be made up of three rounds and 54 selections. Through the Expansion Priority Draft, the Vancouver Whitecaps were awarded the first selection in the SuperDraft, while fellow newcomers Portland Timbers will select second. A three-round Supplemental Draft will be held via conference call on Monday, Jan. 17.

Current Crew players acquired via the MLS SuperDraft include Chad Marshall (2004), Andy Iro (2008), Steven Lenhart (2008), Dilly Duka (2010) and Shaun Francis (2010).
