Crew Stadium’s renowned field and grounds staff have been
honored with the 2010 SportsTurf Professional Soccer Field of the Year
award. The Crew grounds staff, led by director of stadium grounds Brett
Tanner, Ray White and Ben Jackson, was recognized at the SportsTurf
Managers Association Conference and Exhibition in Austin, Texas, in
January. Five types of awards may be presented each year (Baseball,
Football, Soccer, Softball and Sporting Grounds) in three categories
(Professional, College and University, and Schools and Parks). The
winners receive a plaque, STMA apparel and an article featuring their
facility in a 2011 issue of SportsTurf Magazine, among other benefits.
The STMA Field of the Year Award program began in 1992.
There are five field types for which awards may be given: Baseball,
Football, Soccer, Softball and Sporting Grounds. For each field type,
awards may be given in three categories: Professional, College and
University, and Schools and Parks. This year there were a total of nine
awards presented.
