Crew Reserves drop 3-2 decision at DCU

D.C. United Reserves vs Columbus Crew Reserves

The Columbus Crew kicked off the 2011 MLS Reserve League Season with a 3-2 loss against D.C. United on Sunday at the D.C. United Auxiliary Field in Washington, D.C. Rodrigo Brasesco, Blake Brettschneider and Branko Boskovic scored for the home side while Bernardo Anor and Cole Grossman scored for the Black & Gold.

Brasesco headed home a cross in the third minute to open the scoring. Five minutes later, the Crew pulled level as Bernardo Anor slotted a strike into United's net.
The match remained tied until the 39th minute when Brettschneider fired a close-range shot to beat Crew ‘keeper Andy Gruenebaum.
Boskovic added another tally in the 49th minute when he finished off a cross by Santino Quaranta.

The Crew picked up the pace and was able to draw one back in the 63rd minute when Grossman tapped in a pass by Anor to fix the result at 3-2.

The Crew Reserve team will return to action on Saturday, April 23 at 6:45 p.m. as it faces Toronto FC at BMO Field.
