The Colorado Rapids will host the Crew in a single-elimination Wild Card match in the MLS Cup Playoffs this Thursday, October 27, at 10 p.m. ET at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The game will be televised live regionally on ONN.
The matchup was finalized by the Houston Dynamo’s 3-1 win over the LA Galaxy on Sunday evening, which moved the Dynamo into second place in the East and dropped the Crew into fourth and a Wild Card berth.
The Crew and Rapids meet in the opening round of the playoffs for the second straight year. Colorado topped Columbus on penalty kicks after a 2-2 aggregate draw in a home-and-home series in 2010.
Four teams will be in action this week in MLS's first-ever Wild Card games, with the New York Red Bulls visiting FC Dallas on Wednesday night before the Rapids host the Crew on Thursday.
The Wild Card winners will advance to the two-game, home-and-home Conference Semifinal round. The higher-seeded Wild Card winner will advance to meet Sporting KC, while the lower-seeded of the two will face the LA Galaxy.
