The Crew Reserves today clinched the MLS Reserve League East Division title by virtue of New York’s 2-2 at D.C. United, the Black & Gold’s closest pursuer. The result renders meaningless the Crew-D.C. finale scheduled for Tuesday (Nov. 15) at 10:30 a.m. at Crew Stadium.
The Black & Gold entered the week six points ahead of D.C. United, can no longer catch Columbus. A pair of D.C. wins would have given it the division crown via head-to-head tiebreaker. The Crew(8-1-0, 24 pts.) will now be looking to earn the most points in the Reserve League, as a win would give it two more than Seattle (8-1-1, 25 pts.), which has already wrapped its season.
Tuesday’s match is free and open to the public.
