Crew unveil 2012 Home and Away Jerseys

The Columbus Crew today unveiled brand new adidas jersey designs for the 2012 Major League Soccer season. In its 17th MLS campaign, the club will wear a new version of its traditional all yellow home jersey and a primarily white secondary jersey with black and yellow accents.

The move to white is a nod to the club’s early years, marking the first time since 1999 that white has been significantly incorporated into a jersey design. The retro look will remind longtime fans of the Crew’s three consecutive trips to the Eastern Conference Finals from 1997-99.

Meanwhile, the all yellow primary, or home, jersey has a familiar look, but with the notable addition of a collar. Authentic jerseys will continue to include the hologram star above the crest, representing the club’s 2008 MLS Cup championship, and the initials “LH,” in remembrance of Founder Lamar Hunt.

“Working with adidas to introduce new jerseys is always exciting,” said Crew President & General Manager Mark McCullers. “Fresh interpretations of our brand energize our players, staff and, most importantly, our fans. The return to white after more than a decade makes this unveiling unique, and we look forward to taking the field in them for the first time.”

They will be available for purchase for the first time this Saturday, Dec. 3, exclusively at the Crew Gear store at Crew Stadium, which will be open from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. As an added bonus, everyone who purchases a 2012 jersey that day will be eligible for FREE personalization (choice of name and number). Limited quantities will be available through the holiday season and pre-orders will also be eligible for free personalization.
