Q&A with Olman Vargas

Olman Vargas

One of the Crew’s key offseason signings, Costa Rican forward Olman Vargas, has arrived in Columbus ahead of the team’s preseason to Florida. TheCrew.com caught up with him as he visited practice to meet with reporters and his new teammates.

TheCrew.com: Welcome to Columbus, Olman. What are your feelings regarding this new step in your career?

OV: It is a very important change in for me, one that I have been preparing for for a long time. I wanted to come here to make a difference, work hard and help the Crew reach its short- and long-term goals.

TheCrew.com: What did you know of Major League Soccer before coming to the Crew?

OV: I know quite a bit. In Costa Rica, I was able to follow MLS and see that it is a competitive league that continues to grow. It is a league that is doing a lot of good things in North America and its growth is showing in other countries as well.

TheCrew.com: What can our fans expect from you?

OV: They can expect commitment, hard work and humility. When clubs sign forwards, it is so they score some goals so I hope to be able to contribute in that sense. I am a very humble person and I hope to make Crew fans happy by helping the team and scoring some goals.

TheCrew.com: What do you know of the Crew’s supporters?

OV: I had a chance a few years ago to come and play against the Crew (with Saprissa in the CONCACAF Champions League) and I saw that it’s a passionate group that follows the team and stays with it whether it wins or loses, so my impression is they are very faithful.
