Postgame Quotes - Montreal Impact

Chad Marshall

IMPACT COACH JESSE MARSCH
On the team’s performance…
This was a good win for us tonight. The players deserve a ton of credit tonight as they battled on the field and dug in. This will be something we will use to gain some momentum moving forward.”
On second half adjustments…
It felt like we were forcing the issue to try and feed Marco. We were more patient in the second half. We asked him to slow down his runs a little more. We are still learning how to play with him and him with us.
On his defenders playing higher…
We asked Zarek and Jeb to push a little higher in the second half to support the attack, which would put them in a shooting position instead of a cross, and that’s exactly what happened on Zarek’s goal.

IMPACT MIDFIEDLER DAVY ARNAUD
On the game…
We showed guts towards the end. We played well enough to get a result and we showed a lot of character. After three losses, we could have easily folded up again after allowing the first goal, but we were able to push for the win.
On the first half…
We were trying to force the final pass too much. We were able to find Marco more in the second, and he played really well. We pushed in the second half and our two goals were well deserved.

IMPACT MIDFIELDER PATRICE BERNIER
The game…
It was a good game mentally. This is a moral victory that will help us when we are in tough spots in the future. I’m very happy to have helped the team win the game tonight by scoring a goal.
On the next game…
We have to play our game. If we improve on our finishing, we would be able to put games like tonight away a little easier and earn a few extra points.

CREW COACH ROBERT WARZYCHA
About the game...
Montreal was better than us. They were pushing and they wanted it more. With a little luck they probably wouldn’t have won that game. We gave the first goal, and the second goal was probably a gift from the referee.
About the penalty...
It’s too bad it happened at the 89th minute, so you are always going to question that.
About their next game...
I’m expecting the team to bounce back. You’re going to lose some games, you’re going to win some games but if you lose, you have to give everything on the field and today that was not good for us.

CREW DEFENDER CHAD MARSHALL
About his return on the field...
It was nice to get back out there and be able to go 90 minutes. Obviously, it’s frustrating the way it turned out. But I felt alright. I was surprised to be able to go that long. I went 60 minutes last weekend. It was really much cooler tonight then it was in Columbus, so it was probably a factor.
About the game...
It’s always frustrating. We had the lead and we gave it away. Especially on the road, we lost important points. We’ll go back, look at video and try to get better for next week.

CREW MIDFIELDER MILOVAN MIROSEVIC
About his goal...
I just tried to touch it, to change the direction of the ball. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. We weren’t able to keep the result and in the end, we finished with a really weird sensation.
About the game...
I think we were getting control of the first half. But then, while the minutes were going on, we started playing closer to our goal. They started getting more chances, being in good positions with the ball in our half and that was really dangerous for us. In this case, as we get the ball back, we were too far from their goal, so it was difficult. We weren’t as fresh as we wanted to be.
