Moment of the Match: Meram Cleans Up in Front of Net

Justin Meram

With a draw against Chivas USA looking inevitable, Justin Meram broke a 0-0 stalemate in the 89th minute to give the Crew a much-needed three points on Wednesday night. The sequence began when Chad Marshall sprinted to gain possession at midfield. Marshall sent the ball up to Tony Tchani. Tchani and Federico Higuaín connected back-and-forth with crisp passes, culminating in Higuaín's cross into Jairo Arrieta. The Costa Rican's headed shot was saved by Chivas' goalkeeper Dan Kennedy. The ball landed at the feet of Meram who struck it into the back of the net for the winner. Meram described our Moment of the Match after the game:

"I was off-balance and just wanted to get the ball on-frame and hit it with pace. Luckily, that's what happened and we came away with the win... It's one of those that just kind of bounced right for me, and I wanted to connect on it. I was fortunate that it happened. I'm just happy the team could get the three points."
