The Columbus Crew will hold African Heritage Day on Sunday, October 28, as the Black & Gold take on Toronto FC in the final match of the 2012 MLS regular season.

The event is an initiative to celebrate African Heritage in Columbus and to unite the community in a soccer-filled afternoon that everyone can enjoy.

The day will start with a pre-game tailgate at noon in the general parking lot in front of Crew Stadium, which will feature authentic African food and music.

Following the 4:00 p.m. match between the Crew and Toronto FC, the Final of the seventh annual African Cup USA will take place on the Crew Stadium field.

A video from Cameroonian Columbus Crew midfielder Tony Tchani will be shown prior to the African Cup Final, welcoming everyone to African Heritage Day.

African Cup USA is an annual three-day soccer tournament that has taken place in Columbus for the past six years.

The tournament aims to unite the local African community through soccer, to grow the sport in the community and to provide amateur athletes with an elite tournament to showcase their skills.

This year, the Africa Cup USA Final will be played between teams representing the countries of Ethiopia and Djibouti.
