Awards and Casino Night is a success once again for Crew Soccer Foundation

Casino Night

Crew players, staff and fans filled the LC Pavilion on Tuesday evening for the club's annual Awards and Casino Night to raise money for the Crew Soccer Foundation. Andy Gruenebaum was the big winner on the evening. The netminder won the Breakout Player of the Year, Defender of the Year and the Barbasol Most Valuable Player awards.

"From a personal standpoint, I've always been condfident in myself," Gruenebaum told the press afterward. "If I can just stay healthy, I can be a consistent starter in this league. That's ju
st from a personal standpoint. Like Mark [McCullers] said, I'd trade it all in to play for another championship."

The evening was a nice break for the players before they prepare for Sunday's season finale against Toronto FC. The team hit the black jack, poker, craps and roulette tables in the name of the charitable arm of the Crew, the Crew Soccer Foundation.

Though he didn't walk away with a team award, Carlos Mendes was a winner on Tuesday night as he laid claim to a Zac Brown Band-signed guitar in the silent auction. Other items auctioned off to benefit the Crew Soccer Foundation included a XBOX 360 and EA Sports FIFA 13 bundle and various signed sports memorabilia.
