Julius James undergoes successful shoulder surgery

Julius James

The Columbus Crew announced today that defender Julius James has undergone successful right shoulder surgery to correct recurring dislocations. James will begin rehabilitation immediately and is expected to be sidelined for four to six months.

The surgery was performed by Crew medical staff in Columbus.

After starting 31 matches in 2011, James appeared in 12 games this season as he recovered from shoulder surgery early on in the campaign, followed by a collapsed lung suffered in April. For overcoming these obstacles, James was recently named OhioHealth Comeback Player of the Year at the 2012 Team Awards Ceremony.
