Arrieta making the most of call-up

After electrifying the Crew attack with nine goals and four assists in the second half of the 2012 season, striker Jairo Arrieta is happy to be in Costa Rica camp once again. Arrieta hopes he can impress Costa Rican head coach Jorge Luis Pinto to earn another call-up for the upcoming CONCAF Hexagonal round of 2014 World Cup Qualifying. The 28-year-old forward spoke to the Costa Rican media on Sunday ahead of La Sele's friendly against Bolivia on Wednesday (translated):

“You have to take advantage of the opportunities, the effort and work I put in with the Columbus Crew has been rewarded with a call-up. I have to work hard, just like I am used to with my team... So I will try to take advantage of the opportunity to earn a spot and be here for the [World Cup] qualifier. If I get to play in Bolivia, I hope to score and do well to remain in the National Team Player Pool.”

The Ticos kickoff against Bolivia at 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday from the Estadio Hernando Stiles in Santa Cruz.
