Throwback Thursday: Dos a Cero 2001

Despite playing for the Crew's three biggest rivals during his time with the Chicago Fire, Kansas City Wizards and D.C. United, Josh Wolff remains a hero in Columbus. Wolff's counterattack goal into an
empty net just after halftime was all the United States needed in its opening match against Mexico in the final round of 2002 World Cup Qualifying at Crew Stadium on February 28, 2001. Earnie Stewart's 87th minute tally cemented the three points to help the U.S. in its campaign to qualify for Japan/South Korea the next year. The victory was the first of three "Dos a Cero" wins over Mexico for the United States during various World Cup Qualifying efforts in Columbus.

Wolff retired last week at the age of 35 to become a fulltime assistant coach with D.C. United. Though he entered many times as an enemy, Wolff will always be remembered as a legend at Crew Stadium.
