THE BASICS
Name: Tommy Muller
Position: DEF
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 168 lbs.
College: Georgetown
Class: Senior
Citizenship: United States
BACKGROUND
Muller enjoyed a breakout senior season in 2012, anchoring the Hoya backline to the College Cup Final. The senior captain started 20 of Georgetown's 26 matches in 2012 on his way to earning Third Team All-Big East honors. Over his four-year college career, Muller started in 64 matches for the Hoyas. On the heels of Georgetown's first-ever College Cup Final appearance, a strong showing at the MLS SuperDraft Combine next month in Fort Lauderdale would increase Muller's stock heading into the SuperDraft on January 17.
FITTING WITH THE CREW
Naturally a centerback, drafting Muller would add more depth to the Crew defense. Re-building the Black & Gold's backline depth has been a priority for Technical Director Brian Bliss and Head Coach Robert Warzycha this offseason, and Muller could be one of many solutions.
BLISS' TAKE
"Muller is an under-sized centerback for MLS standards, but a very good athlete who can still win the air duels with good timing and jumping ability. Good pace and tough defender. Could be a potential right back as well."
