Crew selects defender Drew Beckie in second round

Drew Beckie

What Scouts Say: “Athletic right back who can also be a centerback in MLS … Played multiple spots in 2011 and didn’t really fulfill any of them ... Centerback for 2.5 years but best as a right back because he's so athletic. Proved it in 2012 ... One of the best athletes you’ll see. Exceptional … He’s still learning when to go, when to stay. Toward end of 2012, he really started getting a groove … Exceptional in the air … At the next level he may be used as a centerback because it’s a little more simple … Played centerback for U23 Canadian Olympic team ... Technique is very good but has some trouble making decisions with ball at his feet … Grown up in his senior year ... Canadian citizen, but has a U.S. green card.”
