Only half the teams in the Eastern Conference were in action in Week 15 of MLS play as the Crew's road tilt against the Philadelphia Union was the marquee matchup of the week. With the Union's 3-0 win, John Hackworth's side moved into third place with the rest of the top five teams idle.
Here is how the Eastern Conference table looks after 15 weeks.
1. Montreal Impact - 26 pts. - Week 15: Idle
The Canadian champions had another off week as they remain in the driver's seat of the Eastern Conference. The Impact travels to Columbus for a Saturday match with the Crew this week (7:30 p.m. ET / Univision Deportes, FOX Sports Ohio).
2. New York Red Bulls - 25 pts. - Week 15: Idle
With a league-leading 16 matches played this season, the Red Bulls had Week 15 off as they focus on their Open Cup tilt at New England on Wednesday. New York returns to MLS play on June 23 in Philadelphia.
3. Philadelphia Union - 22 pts. - Week 15: 3-0 Win vs. Columbus Crew
The Union exploded for three goals in six minutes, and none were scored by Budweiser Golden Boot leader Jack McInerney. Things look to be going up for the Union as it prepares for its next match, a home tilt with the New York Red Bulls on June 23.
4. Houston Dynamo - 22 pts. - Week 15: Idle
Having Brad Davis, Oscar Boniek Garcia and Tally Hall away with international duty, the Dynamo caught a break with an idle Week 15. Following an Open Cup clash with FC Dallas on Wednesday, Houston continues its regular season schedule on June 19 in Montreal.
5. Sporting Kansas City - 22 pts. - Week 15: Idle
After an idle Week 15, Sporting hosts Orlando City FC on Wednesday in the Fourth Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup before a 10-day break ahead of its June 22 match at FC Dallas.
6. New England Revolution - 20 pts. - Week 15: 0-0 Draw vs. D.C. United
Bobby Shuttleworth recorded his seventh clean sheet of the season as New England extended its unbeaten run to five matches with a 0-0 home draw with D.C. United. The Revs host New York at Harvard Stadium on Wednesday for a fourth-round U.S. Open cup fixture before heading to Vancouver to take on Whitecaps FC on Saturday.
7. Columbus Crew - 17 pts. - Week 15: 3-0 Loss at Philadelphia Union
Leaking three goals in six minutes is not how Robert Warzycha anticipated the Crew's lone to trip to PPL Park to play out. The Black & Gold will hope to rebound in Chicago on Saturday their match with the Fire in the Fourth Round of the U.S. Open Cup before hosting the Montreal Impact on Saturday.
8. Chicago Fire - 12 pts. - Week 15: 2-2 Draw vs. Portland Timbers FC
Down two goals at the hour mark, newcomer Mike Magee and Daniel Paladini delivered second-half goals to earn a point for the Fire at home against Portland. Chicago hosts the Crew on Wednesday in U.S. Open Cup play will resume MLS play on June 19 against the Colorado Rapids.
9. Toronto FC - 8 pts. - Week 15: Idle
Perhaps a week off could help Toronto FC end its 11-match winless streak as the travel to last-place D.C. United on Saturday.
10. D.C. United - 6 pts. - Week 15: 0-0 Drawat New England Revolution
For the second time in four weeks, D.C. United earned a road point as Bill Hamid recorded a shutout against a surging New England Revolution side. United will juggle its Open Cup bout with the Philadelphia on Wednesday with a weekend match against Toronto FC in Week 16.
