Crew Homegrown Player Aaron Horton's loan extended with LA Blues of USL PRO

Aaron Horton

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Crew today announced that Homegrown Player Aaron Horton’s short-term loan with the LA Blues of USL PRO has been extended through the end of the USL PRO season, which culminates with the League’s championship weekend on September 6-8. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, additional details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Horton was sent on-loan to the Blues on May 29, and the forward made his Blues debut two days later in a 2-2 draw against the Rochester Rhinos. Overall, in the four matches that LA has played since Horton’s arrival, the Crew Homegrown has seen action in each contest, making four appearances – including two starts. Horton most recently earned a spot in the starting lineup in the 1-0 loss against the Dayton Dutch Lions on June 23. The club is next scheduled to host Antigua Barracuda FC at Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Stadium on Thursday, July 4 at 10:30 p.m. ET.

The 21-year-old signed as the Crew's first-ever Homegrown Player on May 17, 2011 and made his MLS debut in a substitute appearance on June 8, 2011 against Real Salt Lake at Crew Stadium. After completion of rehabilitation from surgery to replace a torn lateral meniscus on April 3, 2013, Horton saw his first Crew action of 2013 in a substitute appearance for the Crew Reserves at Toronto FC on May 18.

The Crew returns to the road once more this week for a two-match swing at Sporting Kansas City on June 29 (8:30 p.m. ET / FOX Sports Ohio) and at the LA Galaxy on July 4 (10:30 p.m. ET / FOX Sports Ohio).
