Black & Gold Bullets: September 19

Tyson Wahl
  • Crew defender Tyson Wahl finally seems to have found a home in Columbus. While injuries to Glauber and Agustin Viana have forced Wahl to play several different positions defensively, for him it is all about “confidence.” The Columbus Dispatch’s Adam Jardy caught up with Wahl following Tuesday’s practice to talk about his role with the team and why he is relishing his opportunity.

  • Currently, the Black & Gold sit four points back of the fifth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. A large part of why the team is still in the playoff hunt can be attributed to Interim Head Coach Brian Bliss who took over as the team’s new boss earlier this month. Andrew King of MLSsoccer.comprofiles why Bliss “doesn’t look at [his job] as an audition” and why his mentality is focused on improving his team.

  • Since the Chicago Fire first entered the League back in 1998, the Crew and the Men in Red have been Eastern Conference rivals. As TheCrew.com ’s Cody Sharrett points out, in Saturday’s upcoming match with the Fire more than just a bragging rights will be on the line as both teams vie for a playoff spot.
