Making the Case: 24 Under 24

Though no Crew players were selected for MLSsoccer.com's 2013 24 Under 24  list of the top young talents in the League, the future is bright for the Black & Gold with a young core of players under 24 years old. Here is a look at the young players who have made an impact with the Crew in 2013.

MID WIL TRAPP - Age 20

2013 Stats: 11 appearances, 11 starts, 1 assist

Since returning from the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, Trapp has started every match in central midfield for the Black & Gold in his rookie season, and has been the club's highest-rated passer in several games.

DEF CHAD BARSON - Age 22

2013 Stats: 16 appearances, 14 starts

Even at age 22, Barson brings a calm and maturity to the Crew backline. Barson's soccer I.Q. earned him a captain's role at Akron under Caleb Porter.

DEF/MID KEVAN GEORGE - Age 23

2013 Stats: 11 appearances, 3 starts

The versatile George has been a key contributor in midfield and defense in 2013. George recently earned his first senior caps with Trinidad & Tobago.

FWD RYAN FINLEY - Age 22

2013 Stats: 10 appearances, 3 starts, 1 goal

The 2013 First Round SuperDraft pick has continued to show improvement in his rookie season. Finley netted his first MLS goal on September 3 vs. Houston.

MID BEN SPEAS - Age 22

2013 Stats: 15 appearances, 10 starts, 1 goal, 1 assist

Speas got off to a hot start in 2013 filling in for an injured Eddie Gaven. The winger remains a building block for the Crew going forward.

MID ETHAN FINLAY -  Age 23

2013 Stats: 17 appearances, 2 starts

In his second season, Finlay has become the Crew's spark off the bench. The Creighton product's pace on the flank has been a weapon in late-game situations.

FWD AARON SCHOENFELD - Age 23

2013 Stats: 8 appearances, 2 starts

When healthy, Schoenfeld provides the Black & Gold with a true target forward in the attack. Injuries have hampered the striker's impact on the field this season.
