Crew to begin offseason with home-and-home scrimmages with Indy Eleven trialists

Brian Bliss

To keep things competitive in the month of November, the Columbus Crew will battle a squad consisting of trialists for NASL expansion side Indy Eleven in home-and-home scrimmages over the next two weekends. Due to Indy Eleven's ongoing player tryout process and the Crew's continued roster evaluation heading into the offseason, the scrimmages will not be open to the public.

The Black & Gold will feature several trialists in the scrimmages as roster decisions are expected in the coming weeks as they prepare for the 2014 season.

The Eleven are coached by former Crew goalkeeper Juergen Sommer. Sommer played for the Black & Gold in the 1998 and 1999 seasons. His 35 goals against in 1998 are tied for third-lowest in club history.
