Crew Youth

The Crew Soccer Academy completed a perfect unbeaten (5-0-0) weekend at the Crew’s Training Facility in Obetz, with the Under-18 and Under-16 squads downing Shattuck-St. Mary’s (Minnesota) on Saturday, November 9, before the Under-14 side joined the U-16 and U-18 teams in victories over the Minnesota Thunder on Sunday, November 10. Additionally, the U.S. U-17 Residency Program also announced on Wednesday that the side featuring Crew Soccer Academy’s George Braima will face Canada in a pair of international friendlies from November 15-17.

All three Crew Soccer Academy sides face Internationals on Saturday, November 16 at Pinnacle Sports Complex in Medina, Ohio with matches at 12:00 p.m. ET (U-18s), 2:30 p.m. ET (U-16s) and 4:30 p.m. ET (U-14s)

The two friendlies for the U.S. U-17 Residency Program come less than a month before the U.S. U-17 MNT takes part in the Nike International Friendlies and Development Academy Showcase from Dec. 9-15 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., where the U.S. will face Brazil, England and Portugal. Twenty seven of the 30 players on the roster that will face Canada have ties to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, while eight players represent five different MLS Academy teams including the Crew, Chivas USA, FC Dallas, LA Galaxy and the New York Red Bulls.

CREW YOUTH UPDATE ROUND-UP

U-14

In their lone match last weekend, the Under-14s defeated the Minnesota Thunder by a score of 3-2. John Vrablic, Moussa Sy and Cade Remy scored for the U-14s.

U-16

The U-16s defeated Shattuck-St. Mary’s on Saturday in a 1-0 as Julian Castro scored the game’s lone goal in the fifth minute as the side held on for the victory. On Sunday, the team downed the Minnesota Thunder Academy as Frank Carsonie and Devyn Etling scored one minute apart in the final two minutes of action.

With the pair of shutout victories, the U-16s move to 3-5-3 on the season.

U-18

The U-18s returned to a .500 winning record with the pair of victories over the weekend. On Saturday, Andrew McKelvey gave the Crew an early lead in the 10th minute and then recorded the game-winning goal in the 60th minute following an equalizer from Shattuck-St. Mary in the 35th. The victory came against the previously undefeated Minnesota side. On Sunday, the team stormed back from an early two-goal deficit in the first 15 minutes to beat Minnesota Thunder Academy 4-2. McKelvey opened the comeback before John Schuman (34th minute), Omar Mohamed (40th minute) and Javier Meneses-Wallace (81st) scored in the win.
