In conjunction with Major League Soccer's Jersey Week from March 2-6, Columbus Crew SC today announced that the club is hosting a full-team Crew SC jersey celebration on Tuesday, March 3 to commemorate its new 2015 primary and secondary kits.
Hosted at the Bluestone (583 E. Broad Street, Columbus), the event will be open to the public with Season Ticket Members and corporate partners having the first chance to RSVP. Crew SC Season Ticket Members have priority access and will be emailed an RSVP invite.
The event will be the first chance to see both new Crew SC kits in person. All pre-sale jerseys that have been ordered can also be picked up at the jersey celebration — the first chance for any fan to secure his or her 2015 jersey.
Doors for the party are set to open at 6:00 p.m. ET. Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter is slated to address the crowd at the event.
At the event, the new jerseys are set to be available for sale at a merchandising area within the Bluestone. There will also be new 2015 Columbus Crew SC gear for sale on-site. Additionally, there will be Columbus-based food truck fare available outside the Bluestone for all guests.
The 2015 Black & Gold kits were designed to be clean and simple, with the new Crew SC badge as the focal point of the design. Emblazoned with proud partner Barbasol across the front, the jerseys are the lightest ever made from adidas' adizero fabric, with sustainable recycled mesh used throughout.
The jerseys are highlighted by elements focused on the club's three brand pillars of Authentically Columbus, Energetic and Original. The club has returned to its trademark pairing of a Gold primary jersey and a Black secondary jersey, with the latter being used for the first time since 2011. On the back of the neck, the Columbus Crew SC wordmark has been added to highlight the city the team represents every time it takes the pitch.
To represent the energy of Crew Stadium and the Crew SC supporters, the checkerboard pattern used in the new badge is prominently embossed on the body of both kits. Inside the necktape, there is also a textured checkerboard detail. Furthermore, for the 20
th
season, the inside of the jersey features a "Founding Team" embellishment under the Crew SC badge to recognize the club as one of the founding clubs in MLS.
Crew SC is currently in preseason in advance of the 2015 Major League Soccer campaign, highlighted by two stays in Florida and an Austin, Texas trip. The Black & Gold begin their 20th season on March 7 at Houston and return home for the Opening Match at Crew Stadium on Saturday, March 14 against Toronto FC. In celebration of the 20th campaign, the club is offering free customization to any fan that pre-orders his or her 2015 jersey. Once the jerseys have been revealed to the public, fans can select either the primary or secondary jersey along with any name and number they wish to add at no additional charge.
