MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends James Riley, Tony Tchani and issues additional fines

The MLS Disciplinary Comittee has suspended and fined two players and two MLS technical staff members and issued three additional fines for incidents that occurred during Week 1, it was announced Thursday.


The Colorado Rapids received three disciplinary sanctions: Defender Bobby Burling, who was ejected in the 68th minute of the 0-0 tie at the Philadelphia Union, was fined for failing to leave the field in an orderly manner (VIDEO). Rapids defender James Riley received a one-game suspension and a fine for serious foul play on a foul against Andrew Wenger in the game's 81st minute (VIDEO). The Rapids also received an official team warning for violating the league's mass confrontation policy in the seventh minute of second-half stoppage time (VIDEO).


In other disciplinary action, Columbus Crew SC's Tony Tchani was suspended for one game and fined for his challenge that endangered the safety of the Houston Dynamo's Leonel Miranda in the 77th minute (VIDEO). Tchani received a yellow card on the play.


Orlando City assistant coach Mark Watson was suspended one game and fined for entering the field in the 91st minute of their 1-1 tie against New York City FC. Orlando City head coach Adrian Heath was fined for stepping onto the playing field in the 54th minute.


FC Dallas strength and conditioning coach Fabian Bazan was suspended one game and fined for entering the playing field in the 91st minute of the 1-0 win against the San Jose Earthquakes (VIDEO).


LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane was fined for unprofessional conduct after scoring in LA's 2-0 win over the Chicago Fire.
