HEAD COACH & SPORTING DIRECTOR GREGG BERHALTER
On the game:
“I thought we had a good start on the game. I think everything was in order. I think we were playing the way that we set out to and I thought it was a decent start. Obviously going down 2-0 in the first half hurts. In the second half we started lively and I think we were a little unlucky not to score a goal. I give Orlando City credit for doing a good job.”
On playing tonight in comparison to the last time they were in Orlando:
"It was a little bit of a different group last time and I think this time some of the familiarity wasn’t there with the guys. But overall I think we did a good job.”
On key notes to take away from the game:
“I think there are some bright spots and some individuals had some good performances and we will learn from some of our mistakes.”
MIDFIELDER WIL TRAPP
On the game:
“I thought tonight was a tough game for us. Anytime you come down in the heat and against a quality opponent it’s going to be difficult, but I thought with the lineup we put out we did a great job. It’s never easy against a good team. But it was an evenly matched game. We were unlucky with a couple plays and they punished us. That’s part of the game. That’s the Open Cup. Overall I’m pretty happy with our performance. I’m pretty happy to be back after a few months of inactivity. I’m disappointed with the loss but we move on.”
On performance compared to previous Orlando City game:
“I think last time it was a little more of an evenly matched game, but in saying that we rolled out a different formation tonight. So it was a little bit of a different rhythm, with different expectations.”
On takeaways from the game:
“The Open Cup is a tough competition. You can win or lose any game against any team. We wish Orlando all the best going forward. We’ll have to wait 'til next year.”
MIDFIELDER TONY TCHANI
On the game:
“We played a different formation tonight 3-5-2 or 3-6-1, so I think we did a decent job.”
On positive takeaways from the game:
"We rested three guys tonight, which will be good for us on Saturday. With those guys coming in on Saturday with fresh legs we will have a good set.”
On wearing the captains arm band:
“I don’t like to talk about myself. They called me to the side and gave it to me and I wasn’t sure why. But he sees me as a leader. I am a guy who doesn’t talk a lot, but I lead with my style of play.”
