A sold out crowd at MAPFRE Stadium witnessed a historically rare comeback by Columbus Crew SC as the Black & Gold scored two late goals to topple Sporting Kansas City by a score of 3-2. For a team that squandered a 1-0 stoppage time lead against Chicago and a 3-0 second half lead against Toronto, forcing them to settle for two points instead of six in that pair of home games, flipping the script and turning zero points into three was a welcome reversal of fortune.

“It’s a massive victory for us,” said Michael Parkhurst, who knows how to choose a club-appropriate adjective. “It’s a great attitude from the team. It feels good to win one in the late stages of a game because a few times this year we have given up the lead late. There were not too many times we have come back and done this late or equalized it late in the game. It was a great attitude from the team and it was a huge win for us.”

“It was a huge win in front of a huge crowd,” added Ethan Finlay. “They drove us those last 15 minutes. They really did. They led us to that victory.”

Good job, everyone. Especially the fans who made the hilarious Ralph Wiggum “I’m a Sporting” banner. I’d like to think that was the difference maker.
