Match Notes: Crew SC at FC Dallas

Columbus Crew SC plays its fourth 2016 MLS regular-season contest and its third on the road by traveling to Frisco, Texas to face off against FC Dallas. Learn more about the two MLS originals ahead of their 45th all-time contest with these stats.


LAST REGULAR-SEASON MEETING
On September 6, 2015, Crew SC met FC Dallas for the clubs' lone 2015 meeting, which took place at MAPFRE Stadium. The Hoops took a 3-0 win, snapping the Black & Gold's three-match unbeaten streak in the series.

CREW SC SET TO MEET FC DALLAS IN WESTERN CONFERENCE CLASH
Columbus Crew SC plays its second match against a Western Conference foe in 2016 by traveling to Frisco, Texas for this contest. It is the lone regular-season meeting between Crew SC and FC Dallas, two Major League Soccer original clubs, this year. This is also Crew SC's first trip to Frisco since the 2013 season. All-time, Columbus is 3-4-1 at Toyota Stadium, winning its last match in Frisco by a 4-2 score on September 29, 2013.


BERHALTER'S FIRST MATCH IN DALLAS WITH CREW SC
As FC Dallas traveled to MAPFRE Stadium in both 2014 and 2015, this con­test is set to be Crew SC Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhal­ter's first-ever match as the Black & Gold boss in Frisco. As an MLS player for the LA Galaxy, Berhalter appeared in two contests at Toyota Stadium, on May 23, 2009 and on May 20, 2010. Berhalter went the full 90 minutes in both contests, drawing the former by a 1-1 score, and winning the later as part of a shutout effort, 1-0.


CUNNINGHAM AMONG FOUR TO HAVE PLAYED FOR BOTH COLUMBUS AND FC DALLAS
Since the Dallas Burn became FC Dallas, only four players in MLS history to have appeared in a regular-season game for both Columbus and FC Dallas all-time: Jeff Cunningham, Adam Moffat, Dominic Oduro and Daniel Torres. Cunningham is Crew SC's all-time leading goal-scorer with 64, and he also notched 33 tallies over parts of three seasons with the Hoops. Overall, since 1996 a total of 12 players have suited up for both Dallas and Columbus. Here's the full list:

CREW SC LEADS MLS IN PASSING ACCURACY
Through three matches in the 2016 Major League Soccer regular season, Crew SC is MLS’ leader in passing accuracy at 82.54%. The Black & Gold have completed 1,253 of 1,518 passes on the year. Additionally, Crew SC's possession percentage of 59.2% ranks second in MLS, behind only New York City FC (62.0%). In 2015, Crew SC ranked second in Major League Soccer in both categories, registering a possession percentage of 53.8% and a passing accuracy rate of 81.4%.


SHOTS AND CHANCES
Through its first three regular-season contests, Crew SC has regis­tered 50 attempts at goal and 42 chances created, or averages of 16.7 shots per match and 14 chances created per match. Both figures are top three League-wide. Columbus ranks third in MLS in shots per match, trailing only Portland (20.7) and New York City FC (17), while the Black & Gold rank second in chances created per match, behind only the Timbers (17.3).

Saturday’s 9:00 p.m. ET start is available via regional television on The CW Columbus, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and BCSN 2. Neil Sika (play-by-play) and Dwight Burgess (analyst) are set to have the call of the match. On Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and BCSN2, “Crew SC Matchday,” the exclusive pre-match show, starts at 8:30 p.m. ET with Chris Doran, and “Crew SC Post-Match” immediately follows the action only on TWCSC and BCSN2. The CW Columbus broadcast begins at 9:00 p.m. ET. Locally, the contest is available via the radio in English on CD102.5 FM and in Spanish on La Mega 103.1 FM.
