MLS Power Rankings: Week 8

Columbus Crew SC earned its second straight win on Saturday, defeating the Houston Dynamo 1-0 at MAPFRE Stadium on the heels of a Kei Kamara penalty kick. With back-to-back victories, Crew SC is working its way up the MLS Power Rankings. Let’s see where the Black & Gold stand after week 8…

ESPN FC says that the victory over Houston “wasn’t one for the time capsule,” but still has Crew SC moving up two spots from last week to 12th. “Given the Crew's early struggles, Gregg Berhalter will be satisfied to record a second straight home victory,” ESPN FC says.

SI.com also bumped up the Black & Gold two spots this week from 15th to 13th, despite saying that “a 1–0 win over a Houston Dynamo team playing with 10 men for most of the match might be as unimpressive as a win can be.”

MLSsoccer.com also moved Crew SC up from 15th to 13th this week, saying that “grinding out Ws = The Columbus we know and love.” However, MLSsoccer.com questions whether the Black & Gold can keep it rolling.
