Crew SC hosted Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz for its 20th international friendly in club history. The Black & Gold defeated the Liga MX side 1-0 for the first international friendly win since 2012. Let’s break down the victory over the Red Sharks by the numbers…

Forward Ola Kamara found the back of the net for the first time at MAPFRE Stadium this season giving the Black & Gold the game winner against Veracruz. Midfielder Emil Larsen played his first match at MAPFRE Stadium since joining Crew SC. The Red Sharks' trip to Columbus was the first time Veracruz has ever played in the United States against an MLS team.

Midfielders Cedrick Mabwati and Emil Larsen both had three shots on the night. Larsen, goalkeeper Brad Stuver and defender Tyson Wahl were the only three Crew SC players to play the full 90 against the Red Sharks.

Stuver made five saves against the Red Sharks, earning Barbasol Man of the Match honors.

Kamara was a constant threat during the 45 minutes he played on Wednesday night. In addition to his goal, Kamara led his team with six shots against the Red Sharks.

The starting XI featured: Stuver; Jimenez, Sauro, Wahl, Ashe; Saeid, Trapp; Meram, Larsen, Mabwati; O. Kamara.


The following lineup kicked off the second half: Stuver; Jimenez, Parkhurst, Wahl, Francis; Swanson, Saravia; Martinez, Larsen, Hollingsworth; Casey.


Harrison Afful replaced Hector Jimenez in the 67th minute.
