International Roundup: Saravia, Larsen, Afful, Mabwati

Crew SC players Rodrigo Saravia, Emil Larsen, Harrison Afful and Cedrick Mabwati were all called up for international duty in the past week. The four Crew SC players helped their sides register a combined record of 4-0-3.


Saravia registered his fourth cap for Guatemala, playing 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw versus Venezuela in Fort Lauderdale, FL.


Larsen and the U-23 Denmark squad brought home the trophy in a pre-Olympic tournament held in South Korea. The Danes recorded a 4-3 win vs Honduras, where Larsen subbed into the match in the 60th minute followed by a 6-2 win over Nigeria where Larsen got the start and scored three goals in a 20 minute span. Denmark concluded the tournament with a 1-1 draw against South Korea to bring home the hardware.


Mabwati and Afful were both called up for Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches. Mabwati started in a friendly against Romania, and then was in the matchday squad for DR Congo against Madagascar, but did not make an appearance in the 6-1 win. Afful registered his 61st cap for Ghana in a 2-0 win against Mauritius, clinching Group H and successfully qualifying for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
