After a drama-packed home draw against NYCFC last week, Columbus Crew SC will travel to Gillette Stadium for the second time this season for a clash against the New England Revolution. Before the action on the pitch this Saturday, here is a look at three things to know about the Revs.
Series History & Last Meeting
Crew SC holds a 32-22-13 all-time record against New England — including 14-14-6 on the road — but the Foxborough-based club has owned the series as of late. The Revs have won three out of the last five meetings, with the most recent coming on July 9 — a 3-1 victory at Gillette Stadium.
Rusty Results from the Revs
After going unbeaten in three straight matches during the month of July, New England has dropped three straight results. The last three losses for the Revs — the side with the worst goal differential in MLS (-15) — have come by a combined score of 11-2, including being most recently shut out 4-0 by Philly.
Nguyen for the Win
New England midfielder Lee Nguyen has been a Columbus killer for the Revs in recent meetings. Leading his team in goals (5) and assists (7) in 2016, Nguyen has scored in the last four meetings between Crew SC and New England, including in both legs of the 2014 Eastern Conference Semifinals.
