Columbus Crew SC's USL affiliate — the Pittsburgh Riverhounds —racked up their second-straight home victory Wednesday evening in a 4-1 thrashing of Wilmington Hammerheads FC.
Three first half goals by Corey Hertzog (6th), William Hunt (40th), and Nicholas Thompson (44th) — along with Hertzog completing his brace in stoppage time of the match — propelled the Riverhounds to three points. Crew SC loans Cristian Martinez and Zack Steffen contributed to the Pittsburgh victory, as Martinez recorded an assist on Hertzog’s first goal and Steffen notched two saves — along with midfielder Marshall Hollingsworth roaming the pitch for 86 minutes.
The Riverhounds now will play their third match in a week this Saturday, as they travel to clash with cross-state rivals, the Harrisburg City Islanders. Kickoff from FNB Field is set for 7 p.m.
