CREW SC'S PASSING: BY THE NUMBERS


Through 10 matches in the 2019 MLS regular season, Crew SC:


  • Leads the League in attempted passes (5,255) and is one of only two teams to have attempted over 5,000 passes, the other team being Los Angeles FC (5,180)
  • Is second in MLS in successful passes (4,316) and is one of only two teams - the other being Los Angeles FC (4,359) - to have completed over 4,000 passes
  • Is second in the League in passes in the opponent's half (2,625), behind only LAFC (2,865)
  • Is third in MLS when it comes to successful passes in the opponent's half (1,967), behind only the LA Galaxy (2,008) and Los Angeles FC (2,253)
  • Is third in the League in passes into the final third (611), behind only the New York Red Bulls (659) and the New England Revolution (731)

WIL TRAPP AMONG PASSING LEADERS IN MLS


In addition to leading MLS in passes and successful passes as a team, Crew SC's captain Wil Trapp is among the leaders in several individual passing categories. Trapp is second in the League in attempted passes (720), behind only Los Angeles FC's Eduard Atuesta (828) and is one of only two players to have attempted 700 or more passes, with the other being Atuesta. Similarly, Trapp is third in MLS in successful passes (611), behind only the LA Galaxy's Jonathan dos Santos (631) and Atuesta (722). FRANCIS AND ARTUR LEAD CREW SC IN WON TACKLES


After 10 matches of MLS regular-season action, defender Waylon Francis and midfielder Artur lead Crew SC in won tackles, per Opta. Both Francis and Artur have played nine matches in the 2019 MLS regular season, with Francis winning 15 of his 21 attempted tackles, while Artur has won 15 of his 25 attempted tackles.


MENSAH LEADS THE CREW IN AERIAL DUELS WON


Through nine matches in the 2019 MLS regular season, defender Jonathan Mensah leads Crew SC in aerial duels won. Mensah, who joined the Black & Gold ahead of the 2017 MLS season, has won 25 of his 37 aerial duels this season and is averaging 2.78 aerial duels won per 90 minutes, according to Opta.


SANTOS NEARING 50TH REGULAR-SEASON APPEARANCE


Midfielder Pedro Santos is on the verge of making his 50th regular-season appearance for Crew SC. The Portuguese midfielder has made 49 regular-season appearances (46 starts) since joining the Black & Gold on August 8, 2017, and has scored three goals and provided 11 assists over that span. With his next appearance in regular-season action, Santos will reach 50 appearances for the Black & Gold.


PEDRO SANTOS AMONG TOP CROSSERS IN MLS


Through 10 appearances (nine starts) in the 2019 MLS regular-season, Pedro Santos is among the top crossers in MLS. Santos is tied with the LA Galaxy's Jorgen Skjelvic and the Colorado Rapids' Keegan Rosenberry for the fourth-most successful crosses from open play this season (nine) according to Opta. Santos sits behind only Los Angeles FC's Carlos Vela (10), the LA Galaxy's Uriel Antuna and Rolf Feltscher (11) and Minnesota United FC's Romain Metanire (16).

HIGUAIN: JOINT REGULAR-SEASON ASSIST LEADER FOR CREW SC


Federico Higuain is currently tied with Robert Warzycha on the Crew’s list of all-time regular-season assist leaders and needs only one more helper to overtake Warzycha as the outright all-time leader. Notably, Higuain’s assist against New England on April 6 was also his 20th game-winning assist in regular-season action, extending his lead as Columbus’ all-time regular-season leader in this category. Since joining the Black & Gold in 2012, Higuain has made 188 regular-season appearances (180 starts), scoring 54 goals to go with his 61 assists.
