Francis undergoes successful shoulder surgery

Columbus Crew SC today announced that defender Waylon Francis underwent successful right shoulder surgery on Tuesday and will miss the remainder of the 2016 Major League Soccer season. The procedure to repair a right shoulder dislocation was performed by Dr. Larry Watson at Orthopedic One in Columbus, Ohio. The defender is currently recovering in Columbus.


In 2016, his third campaign in Black & Gold, Francis made 19 appearances, including 13 starts, and recorded three assists. The Costa Rican defender has recorded 16 assists in his 71 regular-season appearances with Crew SC since the beginning of the 2014 campaign.


The Black & Gold return to action on Thursday, October 13 when the club visits Bridgeview, Illinois to face the Chicago Fire (8:30 p.m. ET / MyTV Columbus, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, BCSN2, CD102.5 FM, La Mega 103.1 FM, English radio stream available on ColumbusCrewSC.com).
