Crew SC travels to the nation’s capital to take on D.C. United at RFK Stadium at 7 p.m. ET on March 18 to kickoff Week 3 of the Major League Soccer regular season. The Eastern Conference matchup will be the 65th all-time between the two teams.

Entering Even

After a season-opening draw and losses in Week 2, Crew SC and D.C. United both enter with one point. In D.C.'s season opener, they matched Sporting Kansas City in a scoreless draw, and the Black and Red fell short to New York City FC on the road with a 4-0 loss last week. New York had their victory sealed after three goals in the first half. United felt the tension with their key playmaker, Luciano Acosta, missing in action do to an undisclosed injury. According to reports, he is out indefinitely.

D.C. looks to improve their home record in their final days at RFK Stadium, where they haven’t lost to Crew SC since 2015.

Battle of the Ghanaians 🇬🇭

Ghana will be represented well in Saturday’s matchup. Crew SC defenders Harrison Affuland Lalas Abubakar and midfielder Mohammed Abu are all potentials for Crew SC's gameday 18. United will also rely heavily on their Ghanaians: Patrick Nyarko, Kofi Opare, and Lloyd Sam — one of the three goal scorers from the last matchup with Crew SC.

Nyarko contributed to the second most assists on the team and scored four goals for United. Both Nyarko and Sam will look to advance on the ball early and pull it out wide to create opportunities.

ReUnited

The two MLS founding teams are pretty neck-and-neck as far as records go.

Columbus holds an overall record of 26-27-11 against D.C. United. In their last matchup, the Black & Gold fell 3-0 on United’s turf. Columbus has new faces on their backline, that hopefully will thwart any of United’s scoring opportunities.

Crew SC and D.C. United will both be fighting for their first win of the MLS regular season.
