Steffen's saves earn Week 8 Acura MOTM honors

Columbus Crew SC’s goalkeeper Zack Steffen was voted Acura Man of the Match after Saturday’s game against the New York Red Bulls that ended in a 2-0 loss in Week 8. Steffen’s quick reflexes saved the Black & Gold from facing a bigger deficit.

The 23-year-old made five saves, many filling the highlight reel for the match. Steffen is one of the top goalkeepers in the MLS in terms of saves, shots on target against, and save his percentage. Saturday’s match saw him reached a new career record.

In a supporter-driven Twitter poll, Steffens collected 47 percent of supporter votes. Teammates, Wil Trapp (35 percent), Federico Higuain (12 percent), and Nicolai Naess (six percent), were also nominated for Acura’s Man of the Match.
