PREVIEW: Crew SC hosts NYCFC in Week 9

There’s no place like home for Columbus Crew SC.

PREVIEW: Crew SC hosts NYCFC in Week 9 -

The Black & Gold host New York City FC on April 29 for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at MAPFRE Stadium. This will be the first meeting of the MLS 2017 regular season between the two Eastern Conference teams.

Crew SC is coming into this week’s match after a tough loss on the road against the New York Red Bulls. Not only did the Black & Gold lose starting midfielder Artur after sustaining a wrist injury in the opening seconds of play, they dropped the result, 2-0, in the Big Apple. However, Crew SC will be in the comforts of their own fortress this week, where it is unbeaten with a 3-0-1 record this season.

Things weren’t much better for Columbus' New York counterparts in Week 8 either. NYCFC were personally victimized by Cyle Larin and the rest of the Lions last weekend which left NYCFC with a 2-1 loss in their own stadium.  NYCFC is currently sitting in sixth in the Eastern Conference and looking for some much needed points on the road.

The Black & Gold will definitely be utilizing home field advantage this weekend. They are currently unbeaten in their last six home games, and they have outscored their opponents 13-4 in that stretch. Crew SC hold a 2-1-2 overall record over NYCFC and have yet to lose to them at MAPFRE Stadium.
