Information Specialist Position

Information Specialist Position Summary:  This position will play a vital role for the upcoming 2013 season.  An Information Specialists will be stationed outside each of our main gates as a contact point for our guests to ask questions with regards to our Stadium and upcoming events.  Information Specialists will need to be incredibly outgoing and outspoken.   You will be our first line of “Greeters” and our last line of “Thankers” at each event.  You will be the Ultimate “Guest Service” position!!

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Always conduct yourself and your affairs in the manner in which Lamar Hunt* would have envisioned
  • Provide the highest level of service to ensure guests’ expectations are exceeded and overall experience at Crew Stadium is positive and memorable
  • Ensures all guest are greeted upon arrival and first impression standards are met
  • Thank all guests for attending our events
  • Demonstrate Fan First initiatives in customer interactions for all Stadium events
  • Must handle any and all guest-related matters in a professional and courteous manner while offering each guest superior and individualized service
  • Remains in designated position during scheduled event time unless redeployed by an Area Coordinator or full time Crew staff member
  • Learn the layout of Crew Stadium and re-direct guests to the correct location when assistance is needed
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of stadium policies, procedures and event information
  • Enforce all stadium policies and procedures during an event to assure safety and security for all guests
  • Communicate effectively with all other event day and Crew staff
  • Handle complaints and resolve issues in the best way possible

Required skills, experience & abilities
(To perform this job successfully, the candidate should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this job.)

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be legally eligible for employment in the United States (proof of eligibility will be required prior to beginning work)
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Must have at least 2 years of previous experience as a Columbus Crew Event Staff member
  • Must have a Superior knowledge of the Stadium and upcoming events
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to follow oral and written instructions to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from our guests
  • Must be able to make direct eye contact, greet, welcome and thank all guests
  • Must be outgoing, friendly and able to work under pressure with the ability to deal with problems in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of customer service while being fully focused on the Fan Experience
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time in excess of 8 hours and may include walking long distances and climbing stairs
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 25 pounds
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 80% of all scheduled Stadium events
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions in the extreme heat, cold, rain, sleet, snow and in direct sunlight
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times

*Lamar Hunt founded the Columbus Crew as a charter member of MLS in 1996.  Hunt built Crew Stadium in 1999, making Columbus home to the first soccer-specific stadium in the MLS.
