INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19

(September 3, 2020) – Columbus Crew SC today announced that a limited number of tickets will be sold for Sunday’s home match at MAPFRE Stadium against FC Cincinnati on September 6. Crew SC consulted government health officials, Populous – a leading sports architecture firm and venue reconfiguration expert – along with Major League Soccer and their experts during the creation and implementation of the Health and Safety Protocols.


(August 17, 2020) – Following the announcement of Columbus Crew SC’s upcoming schedule of matches, the Club announced today that fans will not be permitted to attend the Crew’s first “Return to Play” match, against the Chicago Fire on Thursday, August 20. Additionally, the parking lots at MAPFRE Stadium will be closed to supporters for this match. The Club will make an announcement at a later date when it knows more regarding its potential ability to allow supporters at future Crew home matches in Phase 1, including against the Philadelphia Union (September 2) and FC Cincinnati (September 6).


(August 9, 2020) – Since the global COVID-19 pandemic began to impact us all in early March, we have been in frequent communication with Major League Soccer, local and state government officials, medical experts and various third-party industry leaders, while also following the evolving CDC guidance as to how best to safely function as an organization. In May, we began developing, in conjunction with many of these entities, a robust plan to safely reopen MAPFRE Stadium to a limited capacity of fans when the MLS season returned to home markets. We have provided a draft of our Responsible Restart operational plan to the Ohio Department of Health and Columbus Public Health and have subsequently had productive discussions with leaders from these great institutions. We are continuing our collaborative conversations with these experts, seeking their input and recommendations on reopening our stadium in the safest possible way. If we reopen to fans in a limited capacity, every aspect of our operations will be executed according to a holistic plan that prioritizes health and safety and requires as fundamental elements facial coverings, social distancing and robust cleaning and sanitizing protocols. We remain hopeful that we will be able to host supporters at MAPFRE Stadium this year, and will implement the proper health and safety protocols necessary to do so. We will also continue to collaborate with and leverage the expertise of our health partners, and also work to build off the lessons learned at and success of the MLS is Back Tournament. Of course, even the best, most responsible plan requires a collective effort by all supporters to help prioritize health and safety for their fellow fans both on matchday and throughout the rest of the week. As we receive additional guidance and feedback, we will remain nimble, continue to monitor the fluid pandemic situation and distribute more information when available.


(August 8, 2020) – Columbus Crew SC in conjunction with Major League Soccer today announced that the 2020 MLS regular season – the 25th campaign for Crew SC and the League – is slated to resume later this month in home markets. The Crew’s August 20 match against the Chicago Fire begins Phase One of the continuation of play schedule, which includes six matches from August 20 – September 12. For the three matches at MAPFRE Stadium in Phase One, whether the Club will be able to host any spectators is still an open question, but Crew SC will distribute additional details on each match in the near future. Accordingly, the Club hopes to be in touch soon regarding a possible selection and ticketing distribution process for 2020 matches available to Season Ticket Members. Ticket policies for tickets purchased from Columbus Crew SC for affected matches have been or will soon be shared with ticket holders via email. (June 10, 2020) – Major League Soccer announced it will restart the 2020 season with all 26 MLS clubs competing in the MLS is Back Tournament at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida beginning July 8. Upon completion of the tournament, MLS plans to continue its regular season with a revised schedule in home markets. The revised schedule may see certain matches from the original 2020 MLS regular season schedule being cancelled or rescheduled. The final number of matches and the schedule for the remainder of the 2020 MLS regular season and related ticket policies will be announced in the coming weeks.


(April 16, 2020) – In light of the recent MLS statement regarding the 2020 season, Columbus Crew SC acknowledges the current uncertainty around the return to play and wants to assure our supporters that we will do right by you if Crew SC home matches are canceled or played without fans.  More specifically, in accordance with Ohio law, all tickets for each 2020 Crew home match will be, within 8 weeks of the match’s originally scheduled date, redeemed when played with fans or, at the ticket holder’s option, either exchanged for equal or greater value or refunded.
