SPORTING DIRECTOR AND HEAD COACH GREGG BERHALTER
On tonight's match against DC Dallas
I think in the first half we performed really well. Moving the ball well, creating a number of opportunities. Maybe a little too hasty trying to finish the attacks. We could have set them up a little better. Second half, I think our level dropped, we got a little fatigued. We gave Dallas a little bit more control of the game, and in the end, I think, it's a positive point and the guys had to work really hard so I'm really proud of the effort.
On the game plan decision to press high on defense
We always want to play compact. We always want to keep our compactness. I think our forwards did an outstanding job of getting pressure to their center backs. (Dallas) resorted to playing a lot of long balls, and we have good center backs in the air. I think it played into our hands a little bit. We did a good job of shutting them down on the wings. They have very dangerous players on the wings and we did a decent job of that.
On what the offensive game plan was trying to exploit
We were looking to find the pockets and I think we did that pretty well in the first half finding those half spaces then attack to get the ball in the penalty box through crosses. On the crosses themselves, we thought there would be space for the cut back and far post, and they did a good job of defending it. They are a tough team defensively.
On limiting FC Dallas to just two shots on goal
It's a real collective effort, working together. Great compactness, blocking shots, minimizing the space. Our defense starts from the two up top, but it's a team effort. It's 11 guys and I think they did a good job tonight.
On tonight's game, his 50th regular-season appearance with Crew SC
It was a hard game here, and one point for us here is very important at this phase of the season. I'm very happy to have played this many games for this club and it means a lot to me. I am excited to play many more.
On Crew SC's defensive effort against FC Dallas
It was an important part of training all week to be ready to play against them and I think we did a good job. We had a good understanding of the game and our focus helped us do a good job.
GOALKEEPER ZACK STEFFEN
On tonight's match against FC Dallas
I thought our intensity today was pretty good. It was tough with the humidity and the heat. I thought the guys in front of me played really well and stayed in it mentally. They battled for 90 minutes and that's what it takes at this level. Getting a point on the road against the first team in the West is good. We're going to get our rest, get our bodies back, and do it all again Wednesday.
On getting his ninth shutout of the season and equaling his single-season MLS career-high for shutouts
Each year you want to do better and better. It was a goal of ours to do better, get more wins, get more shutouts, get more goals and let in less goals. We're on the right path.
